3/ This is the death knell for a small, rural town. As people move out, businesses and schools close, and the town "dies". It will take decades for the town to recover from this event, and sometimes that recovery never happens.

2/ But now add the jobs lost in different businesses that supported that plant, and in all the small businesses in the town that will suddenly have 25% fewer shoppers. Grocery stores, gas stations, plumbers, electricians, car dealers, hardware stores, Dentist/Doctor offices.

Last original Navajo Code talker dies The last original Navajo Code Talker died Wednesday. Chester Nez was one of the 29 men who used their native language to devise an unbreakable code that helped win World War II.

This is apparently Chester Nex, who died over a decade ago, in 2014. It looks like there were 28 "original members" and ultimately about 400 served as Code Talkers. The two I named above seem to still be living.

I can't find any news about this, after searching in order to get the name correct. These two were reported to be the last living Code Talkers.
