I just watched Iron Lung, mainly bc I am intrigued by the way it was made

I thought it was a solid take on nihilism and doom-induced mindfuckery

But after hearing how people talked about it leaving the theater I'm lowkey wondering whether I understood jack shit. Alas :D

I shelved Blood over Brighthaven for now, and turned back to my "read more nonfic" agenda. After finishing the 2nd nonfic book in 2026, I am now at 200% vs. 2025 😆.

The book paints a future for Germany's journalism & has interesting food for thought. But, imho, once again insufficient citation 🫩.

Your community has always, will always and honestly should always include people who you do not personally like. You can care about people without liking them, you should care about people without liking them, especially if they have something in COMMON with you.

Book: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

I was in a mood™ this week.

Someone once described P&P as "people going to each other's houses" and I couldn't help but think (and giggle) about that quote the entire time while reading. This one truly is "two horrible men visit each other often".

The worldbuilding is really good tho. I still have a sliver of hope for a pleasant surprise 😩

des Textes; und sie ist Gräzistin/Expertin. SoA ist viel auch für andere Kennede der Ilias & des Kyklos geschrieben. Imho ist das also einer ihrer vielen cheeky little ways ist zu zeigen "Schau, Patroklus kennt ihn. All seine Stärken und Schwächen" (-> 'genau wie ich'). 🙂‍↕️✨️

Okay also: in der Ilias ist eines der meistgenutzten epithets für Achilles "swift-footed/ sure-footed", aber das ist sowohl im direkten Sinne gemeint (er ist schnell & stark) als auch im übertragenen Sinne (er hat ne kurze Zündschnur, er handelt bevor er überlegt). Miller ist selbstbekennend Fan

Mein Punkt hat nix mit dem weiteren Verlauf des Buches zu tun; imho ist das ein sehr spezifischer nod zur Ilias den ich persönlich einfach recht witzig bzw. cute find 🙂‍↕️

I'm just begging the story to p l e a s e give the protagonist an interesting trait (her racism doesn't count 🤨). I can see where her character arc is headed and I don't like it.
