Maryland just lost its most federal workers in a month in nearly 30 years Maryland’s federal workforce just saw its largest single-month job loss since 1996, according to the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.

It was wonderful to join our Governor yesterday for the signing of an executive order to advance environmental justice in Maryland. For far too long, certain communities have borne the worst of the impacts of pollution.

Today marks 5 years since we lost the great Representative John Lewis. I had the opportunity to meet with this civil rights hero as a staffer to Congressman Hoyer. I remain inspired by his story, his vision, and his years of tireless advocacy.

This Supreme Court ruling will not just devastate the livelihoods of federal workers, but it will gut many of the essential services that everyday Americans depend on from government agencies, right when people need them most.

Let me be clear: moving the headquarters just down the street in D.C. ignores the real security threats our FBI faces and leaves their workforce vulnerable.

I have been proud to fight for this headquarters alongside our federal partners, and I will not back down now.

Congress made its decision, and funds were appropriated to bring this project to life in Maryland. Trump’s attempt to override that process not only undermines the will of Congress but puts politics ahead of the security of the men and women who keep us safe every day.

Yesterday, I defended my bill, the Protect Our Federal Workers Act from an amendment that would have stripped the Attorney General from being able to stand up for Maryland Workers.
