This sounds like my step daughters Bio-Dad (or as she has him listed in her phone 'sperm donor' [it's been that since she was 16]) who'd claim that the reason why he'd only phone her, approx. twice a year, was because it was so stressful and emotional to "him" after he'd finished speaking to her.
