Pour une courbe qui entoure un point, on va prendre un cercle. (Ou les analogues en dimension>2...)
En dehors de cet usage, on a pas vraiment besoin de faire la distinction plein/creux, ou alors le contexte la rend claire.
Mais les termes cercle/disque prédatent la topologie? 🤷

Historiquement aucune idée, mais en topologie on utilise des disques/boules quand on veut parler de petits éléments de surface (souvent contenant un point donné). On pourrait prendre des carrés, ça marcherait aussi bien, mais l'usage est de prendre des disques.

Je peux me tromper mais il me *semble* qu'à une époque (années 60 et 70?) la sécu et son budget étaient gérés par des représentants des salariés et des patrons, élus, indépendamment du parlement. Cela a changé depuis (p.ê. sous Giscard ou Mitterrand?) et maintenant la distinction n'a plus de sens.
