Interior Department offers buyouts, early outs to staff as it looks to build housing on federal lands DOI will work with HUD to identify lands to offload for the development of affordable homes.

Areas where affordable housing is needed are in cities and suburbs. Most of which are pretty far away from federal (e.g. national parks) land.

This is just another effort to monetize national park land.
