Discussion It's behavior and results can randomly change due to some OpenAl tweaking that's opaque. On some days it can't even keep track of a fresh chat, it can't do calculations, it can't sort through a chat to extract relevant information, and when it's suppose to refer to source material in a PDF, it doesn't. All because OpenAl trained it for fluency and basically to simulate whatever it can for user satisfaction. I can use it for general chats, philosophical stuff, therapy, but nothing serious. I'm pro Al, but I approach it with skepticism knowing it's undependable (as I do with anything I read). And prompts can be interpreted/executed differently across users' own interaction with their Als so it's not truly scalable. How does the business world / leaders expect staff to adopt Al if it's not consistently dependable? It doesn't even calculate like a calculator. If the internet start claiming 2+2=5, that's what it'll answer with. I'd use it for hobbies and pet projects but I can't imagine using it for anything "mission critical".

Years of figuring out how to not put on a fake voice, but zeroing in on what I can do within the natural range of my instrument, until I could FINALLY get to the point where I could listen to myself and be like "yup, that's how that's SUPPOSED to sound" ❤

Whenever I coach #VO, everyone always tells me they hate the sound of their own voice. But it's taken me YEARS upon years of honing & shaping what my voice can do until I could learn to love my own voice. Voices change w/age, of course, but also countless hours of practice...

Excited to share this bc I ❤️ these guys and it's a hilarious show, but also I love doing these promos! I never thought I could be the kind of big bassy voice I heard on TV growing up. Speaking purely as a fan: I think the headline here is that this game is only $20. Historically, Nintendo’s 1st- or 2nd-party budget releases have near-universally fallen into the “hidden gem” category

…and it seems that designing immersive experiences inherently requires that there be ZERO prerequisites. So at what point are you designing an experience, and when does it become a game?

The comparison to video games is apt, but games require a toolset: the ruleset that you’re constrained to, the suite of actions you’re allowed to perform, heck, even fluency with the design language of the interface device (a modern game controller) is a prerequisite to participation…

…or more to the point: letting someone experience the rewards of the acting process even if they have never been trained with the toolset to do it. Acting tourism.

The ideal experience he’s describing, “participation in dramatic scenarios without lasting real-life consequences BUT that offer the optional OPPORTUNITY for lasting emotional growth” sounds a little like a) an unattainable holy grail but also 2) ACTING

A lot of the questions in my mind after reading this are along the lines of “At what point is it a museum’s responsibility to provide a ‘transformational’ experience to guests?” 😆

Say more! Bc I’m not 100% sure what he’s asserting but I’m deeply curious to hear your thoughts. He cites a lot of examples but is light on details (details that maybe those who work in this field would already grok)
