30.08.2025 17:57 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Why? The university just received a $2 billion gift from Phil Knight. Is this really the time to punish Humanities departments?
28.08.2025 16:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The proposed elimination of U of O's Department of Religion is absolutely tragic. Oregon friends, please consider speaking up! aarweb.org/news/an-appe...

Ohhh I just noticed that Alexandrinus and Washingtonianus say the same thing. But they're the only two Greek witnesses up until the 5th century that do so.
29.06.2025 09:40 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I just noticed that up until the fifth century, every single surviving Greek manuscript of Luke 11:11 preserves a distinct rendition of Jesus's question. Obviously this is due to harmonization with Matthew 7:9-10, but honestly, it's impossible to tell what Luke actually wrote here.

This was so fun and wonderful today! I'm so grateful @libbiesp.bsky.social took the time to teach me and my students about textual variants of Rev 13:18 today. I learned a lot and very much enjoyed hearing Libbie teach. I love it, when you feel the passion people have for their research topics!

05.06.2025 11:56 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Changes like this are found throughout the entire textual transmission of John. But I should note that this correction happens in a commentary manuscript. Mary's name is omitted from 11:28 in the gospel text; these are Theophylact's comments about John 11:21-27, directly adjacent to the text.
28.05.2025 07:37 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Funniest "Mary" changed to "Martha" I've seen recently (found in minuscule 742)
