Correct, Dallos, the very first one literally used "Original Video Animation" as its subtitle for multiple releases. Pioneer never used the term OAV either, in Japan or America. OAV's continued use is purely a nostalgic thing from old Western fandom, even when it's incorrect.

To be that guy is a painfully thankless job. To the point people will wonder why you're so gruff, yet also wonder why your bar is the only safe space in town. Next time you run into a "bartender" like this, thank him, let him know he's appreciated, and support that place as much as you can.

The thing that nobody talks about in this situation is the guy who runs that bar? He will get relentless shit by even some of the other non-Nazi patrons for doing this. This is why this is such a problem. Nobody wants to be the bad guy, they'd rather just let a few in then have the constant battle.

It can be especially disheartening when you see all these giant content farming accounts reshare AI next to real artists and don't even credit the artist, and they get infinitely more likes.

All I can say is, your art is phenomenal Phil. Make what you want, and go down fighting.

I've found so many cool artists, creators, musicians, and just generally interesting people I would _never_ even know exist. Now, I can only hope that my youtube shorts won't send me the same goddamn Joe Rogan clip AGAIN that I've already told to fuck off and not recommend.

The ripple effects of the death of tiktok are going to be especially hard for music. So many artists had their moment because of that app, now left to fight in the hellish thunderdome that is reels and fucking youtube again, hoping that maybe they'll have a Panchiko moment by a random influencer.

You remember when Youtube randomly started showing city pop like Mariya Takeuchi's Plastic Love to everyone and she became a sensation? Or how it will occasionally randomly make someone viral? Imagine that every day, every single time you got on the app, in a unique genre. Organically.

I was skeptical of it at first like so many, critical even, but then I started using it, and realized immediately, oh no, _this_ is the future of social media. Meta, Google, Twitter, they weren't just behind, there was no way they could ever catch up, even if they spent billions trying to copy it.

With the death of tiktok around the corner, I felt the need to describe my time with it to my mutuals who didn't use it and those who never understood it. The discovery algorithm was perfect, it literally felt natural and organic when a video came across your fyp, and no app will ever replace it.

Also, because I mentioned it, Dinner in America (2020) - Probably my favorite music related movie ever. It is simultaneously unabashedly abrasive and beautifully sweet at the same time. It shows you that people are simple but immensely complex all in one. Music is also fantastic. All around stellar.

Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person (2023) This and Dinner in America have pretty much made modern Hollywood dead to me. All the heart and soul of cinema is now in the indies. A fantastic Quebec-french film with tons of charm and sweet baby jesus NUANCE, AHH IT'S NOT DEAD YET.

Watched War of the Rohirrim on NYE. Fantastic addition to the LOTR franchise. Enjoyed it more than the totality of the Hobbit, and leagues more than Rings of Power. If you're a fan of the franchise you really should see it. @clarknova.bsky.social and company should feel proud of this one.

2025 is the year of no regrets. It's gonna be a hard year, but it's gonna be a great one too. Do the things that you've always wanted to do, be with the people you've always wanted to be with, and don't let your dreams be dreams.

I finally installed Windows 11 on my main PC, and it didn't recognize my old PS/2 keyboard. Thankfully the driver is still there in Windows, but the fact you have to install it, and Windows just assumes you're going to be using a USB keyboard now. Ooof, that'll make you feel old 💀
