I always love it when the sun makes a red lacework of the clouds!

Sooner or later they’ll be telling people what color socks to wear, just to get a rise out of them. Or did they already do that?

I’ll just point out that the SEC still uses typewriter fonts. Which made *my* head do that when I had to read some of their documents recently.

Btw, the SEC is still stuck on typewriter font, so it could be worse.

(I’ve had to read through a bunch of filings lately, and it’s torture.)

Font choices.

Though, sadly, that’s dominating the headlines today.

The choice faced pushback at the department (heck, I’m sure most of them still miss the old typewriter font), but this is just part of an ongoing strategy of finding **any** division, coming down firmly on one side of it, and declaring the other side enemies of the people.

The previous choice of font was faintly ridiculous - sans serif is a fine choice, but going with a default Microsoft font is just plain unimaginative, and standardizing on an odd large size pointless in this digital age, whatever the intentions.

It’s perfectly reasonable and even appropriate to argue about what font styles best represent a person or a company or an institution. (Sorry, I’m a font geek.)

But declaring a font style is woke is quite insane.

Dinosaurs like Diplodocus may have been as colourful as birds Skin fossils from a sauropod dinosaur examined with an electron microscope feature structures called melanosomes, which are similar to those that create the bright colours in birds' feathers

Given that dinosaurs could see more colors than we can (just like modern birds and reptiles), it stands to reason that at least some of them were brightly patterned:

Not least since I've often seen mis-priced items in the stores themselves, sometimes for a period of months.

And I do take advantage of Instacart when it's still got a sale price on that's expired in the store. Or when the store is too far to walk with that much stuff.

Same Product, Same Store, but on Instacart, Prices Might Differ

To be honest, I only really use Instacart to check when the local grocery stores are running sales on staple goods that I then pick up in person.

The prices are fairly often out of line with what the stores actually charge, which I'd assumed was due to sales clerk incompetence.

Why the A.I. Boom Is Unlike the Dot-Com Boom

Thinking that we're not in a financial bubble because everyone thinks we're in a financial bubble is just about the dumbest thing I've heard since, oh, the last financial bubble.

Always a mistake to mix potions and make supper at the supper time, IMO.
