I truly hope the US recovers from this. My guess is it will take you decades AND reforms. The way pawns were placed in strategic places (Scotus) and the way Trump still does so, in the military, all larger (bipartisan) institutions, etc is scary and shouldn't be possible, given checks and balances.

Since you reacted on footage of a Dutch protest, I might add that our political systems are incomparable. We do have our problems, but nothing like the US today. The US bipartisan dynamics seem to amplify the current power abuse, which is very similar to the violent way Hitler grabbed/abused power.

The problem is, we play by the (democratic) rules, they'll piss on the same rules (that currently allow them to do their thing) as much as they can.
So far, the protests have been peaceful, let's hope it stays that way. ✌️

Dutch peeps ARE worried about the coloring of the political landscape. Fascists everywhere. 20% of our population votes extreme-right, another 10% worse or religious. We are aware these groups don't want a democracy and will demolish it as soon as they're in power (like Nazi-Germany, current US).
