I think we need to stop calling it empathy and go back to calling it decency. It isn't a favour you're doing someone else, it's you proving that you aren't a fucking ghoul

07.11.2025 12:09 β π 59 π 105 π¬ 1 π 9Dear GOD if you want to save money in the asylum system
1. LET ASYLUM SEEKERS WORK
2. FAST TRACK STATUS FOR EVERYONE FROM CLEARLY UNDAFE COUNTRIES like Sudan, Syria, etc
3. Run an asylum accommodation system that is NOT FOR PROFIT #r4today
Of course the right to work isn't a silver bullet which solves all the issues of human trafficking, exploitation, and actual criminals, but it does go one hell of a lot further than this government's policies of weakening modern slavery protections, and, primarily, targeting those being exploited 4/
05.11.2025 07:19 β π 43 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0Once you provide people seeking asylum with the right to work they are less likely to become victims of exploitation, which directly impacts the genuine criminals, making it harder for them to sell illegal vapes etc, so you combat actual crime, while protecting people. 3/
05.11.2025 07:16 β π 55 π 8 π¬ 1 π 0I do also find it ironic that some of the most hated people on the Internet are people who like being around people. But I think some people confuse being introverted with being a misanthrope.
30.10.2025 20:33 β π 562 π 31 π¬ 2 π 0It's mad how much people care about immigration when it is so proportionately unimportant compared to healthcare, cost of living, poverty, climate change, wealth inequality, war etc. How easily people are convinced to rage about the wrong things by charismatic manipulators and social media posts.
30.10.2025 18:28 β π 124 π 29 π¬ 6 π 0A lovely mossy boulder with a face. I walked past this venerable stone gentleman on Dartmoor when I was beginning to write my first novel, Villager, and it whispered all 104,000 words of the book to me. So now I have to pay it all of my royalties. Unfortunately my ex-publisher stopped paying me royalties last year. Understandable, the boulder was not happy. But now I have a new publisher and the book is being republished this Thursday. So remember if you purchase a copy you will be helping a boulder to eat, pay the rent on his riverside moss garden, and feed his boulder family.
Yes it could be argued that keeping up with world events is important but alternatively can I interest you in hugging an ancient mossy boulder that looks like a face and quietly listening while it tells you stories from centuries cloaked in mist.

You donβt have a Special Needs child.
You have a DISABLED child who has regular ass needs like you but requires additional support/aides/etc.
It shouldn't be as hard as some people seem to make out to recognise that islamophobia, anti-semitism, hate in general, all needs to be absolutely, unconditionally, condemned every time without any form of whataboutery or "but this..." etc.

People forced to migrate βtend to go where they have existing tiesβ.
Confirmed by all sorts of records on migration from Europe to the U. S. the past 200 years (I saw this in manuscript Census records 1790 - 1880, as just one example.)

Is there a reason I ask that the Times are using a picture of asylum seekers in a boat to describe rules for migrants who came on legal routes such as skilled worker visas for doctors?
