It’s hard to believe federal politicians think it’s fine to be members of a registered lobbying organisation sponsored by the peak body for gambling.

They’re like frogs in hot water.

I’ll be reintroducing my Clean Up Politics Act on our first day back.

The USA is right to be alarmed at the idea of a foreign military base on it's soil,

but...........

If you're in #Boroondara, Lighter Footprints is your local #climateaction group! Come chat with us at tomorrow's Electrify Boroondara Expo.
We'll be brainstorming which climate issues are important to our community, and what more we can do locally - we'd love to hear your ideas!

I reckon police would want to have a word with anyone wielding a 2 metre steel pipe while walking among pedestrians.

But that's exactly what these vehicles are doing daily.

For 49 years I've been seeing similar news items; people injured or killed, and the vehicle with a bull bar clearly visible in the story.

Bull bars increase the risk of pedestrian injury and death.

I can't remember every seeing a bull on the roads of our towns and cities.

Lots of people though.

Bull bars increase the risk of injury and death for pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, and even vehicle drivers and passengers.

Bull bars are unnecessary and aggressive.

Most vehicle manufacturers don't fit bull bars, and don't want to know about them.

Yesterday a schoolboy was killed after being hit by a truck in Bendigo.

Notice anything about the truck?

I investigated the effect of 'bull bars' on pedestrian safety as part of my mechanical engineering (vehicle design) degree, in 1976.

If you want a detailed step through of exactly how Oz is getting screwed I found this a good one from Macrobiz.

Which makes the Labor cabinet today's actions all very special.

In Australia, industrial electricity users can select their retailer, but of course there is only one network servicing each property.

The only way to avoid these monopoly charges is to generate electricity on the premises ('behind-the-meter') with solar or renewable heat-to-power.

The airlines will stop cancelling and delaying flights only when we enforce penalties for them doing that for commercial reasons.

The govt needs to hold the airlines to account with a compensation scheme for avoidable delays and cancellations. It’s worked overseas, it would work here.

Gas is not a climate policy South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas has thrown himself into a fight that is not his own.

Australia faces a simple choice: double down on gas and miss our climate targets, or accelerate renewables and build a clean industrial base. Gas is not a bridge. It is a dead end. #auspol #fossilfuels

✍️ ADD YOUR NAME: Phase out fossil fuels Emissions reduction targets won’t solve the climate crisis if they’re built on fiction. It's time for the government to tackle the biggest source of carbon emissions in Australia – fossil fuels.

The competitive component of industrial electricity bills in Australia, i.e. the retail component, usually accounts for less than half of the total cost.

The non-competitive components, mainly the monopoly network charges, account for most of the bill.

There's an opportunity to accelerate our transition to renewable electricity,
and overcome the transmission restrictions and concerns,
by deploying modular, distributed, renewable electricity generators.

We've been waiting 30 years.

Just get on with it.
