You explained it well. Some story framing decisions make little sense if you are a long term soap viewer. The low emphasis on Nicole and Ted’s marriage fall out. The immediacy of Dani’s shot heard across the wedding verse. Even the lack of hints for Leslie’s parentage. There should be build up.
