They want power and money for their own sake, not to achieve anything. And Moebius have no greater goal than to simply exist, to keep their hold on their power and to keep the status quo of the world so it stays that way.

Z, using Noah's visage, saying "This world must remain in the endless now!". One aspect that Moebius represents is fear of the future and uncertainty. And destroying that fear is absolutely necessary to dismantling the systems that form the society you've lived in your whole life. They are intertwined and so killing Moebius is killing both of these things they represent (the fear+uncertainty, and capitalism+fascism)
