12 individuals gained valuable knowledge and skills to consider implementing within their home jurisdiction. The course was instructed by 20 subject-matter experts, representing 16 Northern Virginia and partner agencies, and was hosted by Fairfax County Police Department.

Course goals and objectives are designed to bridge the gap between existing EMS or law enforcement provider knowledge, skills, and abilities with those required to work in special operations and/or an operational capacity.

Last week, NVERS held a 5-day Tactical Emergency Medical Services (TEMS) Direct Support
Medic Course. The program is designed to meet the foundational, regional needs of creating and sustaining direct support medics working with local, NOVA law enforcement special weapons and tactics (SWAT) teams.

NVERS Mobile Vehicle Barriers were on duty enhancing safety at GMU’s Homecoming Block Party on Feb. 8. These UASI-funded regional assets help NVERS member jurisdictions safeguard special events from vehicle threats.

Captain Burgess also reflected on his role as a Rescue Task Force Commander during the March 2023 Nashville School Shooting, offering key takeaways for public safety and emergency response professionals.

The latest NVERS Regional Speaker Series session featured Captain Scott Burgess (Ret.) of the Nashville Fire Department.

As the initial Incident Commander during the 2020 Nashville Bombing, he shared firsthand insights into response strategies, challenges, and lessons learned.

Secretary of Public Safety & Homeland Security Cole and VDFP Director Creasy joined the NOVA Fire Chiefs for their monthly meeting to discuss issues facing the fire service.

The NVERS Regional Healthcare Coordination Center (RHCC) is working to monitor the current severe winter weather and coordinate with our healthcare and government partners. For weather updates within the region, monitor the NWS offices for Baltimore/Washington and Blacksburg.
