The World Health Organization says that antibiotic resistance rose during the COVID pandemic. But antibiotic stewardship and other efforts are yielding results.

In case you missed it, in the 2025-26 academic year, medical school enrollment reached over 100,000 students for the first time, and the total number of medical school applicants rose 5.3%, reversing a three-year trend!

AAMC Statement on 1st Circuit Court of Appeals Ruling in NIH Lawsuit
The AAMC issued a statement regarding the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals decision affirming the unlawfulness of cuts to NIH-funded research.
We’re pleased with the appeals court’s decision that affirms the importance of supporting the real costs of NIH-funded medical research. Yesterday’s ruling protects research that benefits patients and communities nationwide.

Despite affecting 1 in 10 reproductive-age women, endometriosis remains a mystery, difficult to diagnose and eluding a cure. Researchers hope to change that.
Endometriosis is a serious condition that affects 1 in 10 women of reproductive age yet remains difficult to diagnose and treat. I’m encouraged to read how academic researchers are working to move the field forward and help patients find answers.
