I am deeply saddened by the passing of Kirsty Duncan, former Minister of Science of Canada. I had the privilege of working with her closely on research funding and the Fundamental Science Review, and of welcoming her to UBC in 2017 and 2019. We have lost a truly wonderful public servant.
