'False' equal pay figure caused 'avalanche of misery' for Birmingham residents The final equal pay settlement facing Birmingham City Council is much less than the figure that triggered effective bankruptcy

If the S114 Notice had not been issued and Commissioners not appointed, does anyone seriously believe that Birmingham Labour would have dealt with the equal pay and bins issues rather than carry on fudging and concealing?

Great turnout for the Calthorpe Residents Society litter pick this morning. My litter picker has seen a lot of action over the years, and it shows!

City recycling rates plummet to 15 per cent as street collections abandoned A shocking knock-on impact of the bin strikes has been a huge drop in recycling, with the city burning and burying reuseable rubbish

This is dire, but let's not forget that BEFORE the strike the recycling rate was only 7% higher on 22% - the second lowest in the country. Labour 's strike has turned what was already a disaster into a catastrophe

Labour shocks at Birmingham City Council as veteran councillors axed Several veteran councillors have been axed as Birmingham City Council's Labour group prepares for 2026 local elections

True, @janerockhouse.bsky.social lots of "veterans" are going, but also striking that 57% of newly elected Lab Cllrs from 2022 have left the party, been kicked out, deselected or are standing down.

That's a survival rate lower than WW2 air crew (51%)

Put the Β£180 million back to work – fix our roads now!

Birmingham Labour have allowed our roads to crumble. They cut back on repairs whilst building up big reserves for a pre-election bribe. Sign our petition calling on the Council to stop conning us and Fix Our Roads NOW:

Earlier this week Deirdre and I were delighted to be asked by Calthorpe Estates to help cut the ribbon to open the new Edgbaston Village Community Garden off Greenfield Crescent. It's a great space to enjoy a quiet moment or lunch and is open daily from 8.00am until dusk

There are some awful potholes around Edgbaston at the moment, some of which have been marked up for repair for a long time and others which are not. We have reported some today on Metchley Lane, Norfolk Rd, Augustus Rd and Somerset Rd

A number of residents have raised concerns about what appears to be a sinking area on Westfield Rd. It was originally reported last year and it does seem to be getting worse. We are very concerned and have raised it a number of times, but the Council says it will be repaired by June. Let's hope so!

Scrap the Rat Tax

Labour have now temporarily scrapped the Rat Tax. It was obvious they'd need to do this weeks ago, but taking swift action is beyond these people.

It never should have been introduced at all. Sign our petition here to scrap the rat tax for good:

This"temporary" phone mast on Lee Bank Middleway near Ryland Road has been up for 3 years. It's ugly & noisy and the phone company have had long enough to come up with an alternative. We've written to them asking for it to be moved or replaced when permission expires in September

The full report by the Tony Blair Institute is out, in which they detail how copyright should be "rebooted" in the AI age. It reads like a big tech lobbying document. I hope they will be asked serious questions at its launch in London today.
