"Heart-Shaped Box" by Joe Hill was an excellent start to reading horror. A lovely telling of a haunting with a brutal twist, and exhilarating ending. With book 1 of 20 is done I'll be moving back to cozy fantasy. The sequel "A Pirate's Life For Tea" by Rebecca Thorne is book 2 for the year.

Welcome 2025.
I see this year as a fantastic opportunity to remove brain rot videos from my retinue and read even more than last year. 20 books is the goal this year. Today I am starting with "Heart-Shaped Box" by Joe Hill. Maybe starting with horror will help make the year not horror.

I am glad I started reading again. 2024 had its hurdles and the printed word helped the days pass without much tribulation. I finished "Never Let Me Go" by Kazuo Ishiguro today, which enthralled me with a spastic recollection of someone's past, character interaction, and an impending end.

It has been a while, hasn't it?
Updates:

I have been working too much.

Happy holidays to all!

Well, I rewrote what I wrote five days ago. I like the new direction the story took. I am glad I found the urge to write again. It is so freeing.

Apologies for not posting yesterday, time got away from me. I have found some inspiration for writing. I had some time to get some words down. Ocean's Godori has a fun start and I am excited to continue it.

The Hollow went quickly. I would say that it was pleasant. The twist is effective and the ending soliloquy beautiful. Might need more Poirot in the future. The wheel spun again. How my reading leads me to a take of Sci-fi with Ocean's Godori, by Elaine U. Cho. I heard it is like Korean Firefly.

I separated the non-fantasy novels from my tbr. I spun the wheel to find which one is next and came up with The Hollow, by Agatha Christie. I love a good 'Who Dunnit'. Christie knows how to write characters.

The Rage of Dragons was fabulous. A lovely plot of revenge, deception, and loss. I am glad I read it. Tomorrow will be another book.

More work and reading today. I think I'm going to try and use some writing prompts tomorrow for short stories.

More work and more reading. I'm guessing that the writing part of these posts is on pause until I find the discipline for it.

I got a decent chunk of reading done today. Also, if we count audiobooks as reading, then I have a few chapters in a project I am working on. No writing today. Seems like I need to budget my time more wisely

I did not realize how much work I had to do today. Unfortunately, I was unable to do any reading or writing. Maybe that is a good thingβ€”too many threads in my head for plots. A day to sort things might be what I needed

I was stuck writing the same opening repeatedly tonight. I don't understand if it was the genre of my writing or a simple lack of inspiration. Well, tomorrow promises more opportunities.

I have just realized I might not be able to get any writing done for the first 2 days of November. Unfortunate. But I still plan on writing when I can.

Day 1 Update:
It is hard to find a rhythm in writing. I spend the day at my primary job dreaming of scenes for my work. I am participating in the NaNoWriMo event to help jumpstart my ideas. I have some practice in my work already.

Pages of Rage of Dragons read: 78/523.

Coming back into reading late this year I have not finished many books. Surprisingly, I have finished three over two months. Those being:
The Silent Patient
Heavenbreaker
Can't Spell Treason Without Tea

I am currently reading The Rage of Dragons, by Evan Winter.

I recently got back into reading after a decade-long hiatus. To keep myself honest and on track with my current plans involving literature I will use this as my helping hand. This account will include stats on my writing, reading progress, and updates on finished novels (written and read).
