Being a critical thinker does not mean being stupidly credulous or incredulous. Much of academic philosophy seems to have lost this part of the plot.

You can tell how much the philosophy of mind has collapsed since it's golden age by how uncritically and fawningly AI is being gushed over in the discipline. One of the most spectacular declines of an academic area I can think of.

As academic philosophy slides into insularity, gross stupidity, institutional erasure, and irrelevance, the subject will return to the domain of the educated amateur, where it was before disciplinization. Given the rot that the academic version seems committed to producing, this isn't a bad thing.

I was aware there was a thing called “body positivity.” But until today — and thanks to Bsky’s “Discover,” which is the gift that keeps on giving — I had no idea there was such a thing as “dick positivity.” Ignorance was bliss. 😑
