Ahhh thank you so much, lovely 🥰 it’s always fun to delve into how *malicious* Malis was 🤭 and how some characteristics still bleed into her personality now, even free of Bhaal’s influence & cult!

This tavqotd really inspired me to drop some lore!!!! 🫨🫨

The game, to Malis, was the chase of the victim. To lead a person to their doom & watch horror dawn on their face at being duped was Malis’ idea fun. Not playing with them after death, which was always her gripe with Orin. Worship to Bhaal is only in the act of murdering, death is not his domain.

But her personal victims were always killed in private - her own personal worship was never for show or accolade, always purely for Bhaal. This is why she was his perfect Chosen. Plus, he valued how strong the magic in her blood is & the endless well of power in which is flowed from.

Fel or the Bhaalist acolytes would bring victims to the temple so Malis could assist or lead ritualistic worship. These killings were used for spectacle & communal worship in Bhaal’s church. Malis enthusiastically participated in these ceremonies to exert her influence & control over the Bhaalists.

The actual act of killing, however, was always serious. Each murder was an offering to her god - her kills could be artfully quick or painfully slow, but each one was reverent & ritualistic. It was rare that she descend into a bloody frenzy - she was devoted enough to control her animalistic nature.

The lead up to her killings were a game to her. She loved the thrill of goading bigger men into fights, or charming a hapless barmaid into an alley way rendezvous. She especially loved charming kids into trusting her enough to follow her. Each charming deception lead to certain death.

Thank the gods!!!! Angst & drama is fun, as long as everyone is happy at the end 😇😮‍💨

#tavqotd Malis was the perfect, devout Chosen. Bhaal didn’t need to call on her urge for her to kill - she did so willingly & with zealous.

She would seek out her victims, acting as a civilian to ensnare them. She’d pick fights, flirt, or charm people into going to a secluded spot, then kill them.

Oh my goodness, how traumatic for Rolim!! Are they ever reunited?
