Vast areas of peatland destroyed since peat ban announced exactly 3 years ago | The Wildlife Trusts It has been three years since the UK Government announced that it would ban the sale of peat for use in the amateur gardening sector, yet there is still no sign of legislation to enact the ban.

Every day the government delays banning the sale of peat compost means more carbon lost to the atmosphere from this appalling practice

Study backs reintroduction of Golden Eagle to England Golden Eagle could soon return to England, with a Forestry England study expected to confirm there is enough habitat to support the species' reintroduction. Once persecuted to extinction, the birds may follow the success of Scotland's reintroduction programme, which has grown the population to more than 50 pairs. DEFRA says plans will consider ecological impacts and public engagement, marking a major step for the UK's most iconic bird of prey.

Golden Eagle may soon be reintroduced in England, following the results feasibility study by Forestry England:

Scotland - looking wonderful here. Young trees, mature trees and dead trees. Closed canopy, open areas and moor. This is a landscape where grazing pressure has been matched to the carrying capacity of the land.

It looks like there's snow on the rainforest floor in May, but it's actually massed willow seed, drifting on the air.

Every one of these countless magic fairy dust packets of DNA has the potential to be a magnificent old tree, supporting a highly diverse, living ecosystem. ๐ŸŒ
