Classic Collection Inspired by infoboxes, blue hyperlinks, talkpages, and everything that makes Wikipedia unique, this collection features new and well-loved designs, reimagined.

Since Christmas is around the corner, a reminder that Wikipedia has a store. And the profits go to a project billionaires hate, so you're buying an object and getting free spite.

Judge Elke Schwager summarized the case saying that if you want to build something and need components, "then you purchase them and do not use the property of others."

I fully agree with @emilymbender.bsky.social here ๐Ÿ‘‡ E.g. what Mistral's CEO recently proposed to the EU parliament, trickle down responsibility won't work. We need accountability from all model makers!

Call me a reactionary but I believe we as a society should not accept our data being exploited and incorporated into AI models without our consent.

The GDPR is protecting EU individuals' data from being exploited and sold to highest bidder.

We seriously need to have a conversation of what "innovation" is, and should be, especially around AI. I would argue that removing regulations to exploit users is not a step forward. A US inspired...

Brussels knifesย privacyย to feed the AI boom Draft proposals obtained by POLITICO show EU is breaking sacred privacy regime to placate industry.

I can't believe I'm reading this. The EU is about to slash some of its privacy laws to help AI developers!

Help them with what? Surveillance capitalism! To exploit EU citizens!

Sorry to say it, but Draghi is wrong! GDPR is not holding back EU innovation on AI

Let Them Eat Large Language Models: Artificial Intelligence and Austerity in the Neoliberal University

Martha Kenney and Martha Lincoln

Abstract
This article examines the expansion of generative artificial intelligence (genAI) into higher education. We argue that genAIโ€™s incursion into university systems represents an effort by Silicon Valley to capture lucrative new markets for their products, as well as enhanced credibility by association. Drawing on our experience as faculty in the California State University (CSU) systemโ€”the first university system to contract with OpenAI to provide ChatGPT Edu system-wideโ€”we assess the rhetoric that justifies and legitimizes genAI contracts in higher education. We suggest that the uncritical adoption of genAI in higher education poses problems for labor conditions, the integrity of intellectual property, and student learning on campuses, particularly under the conditions of austerity that are commonly found in public universities.
