People changing their mind and speaking out on the horrors of Gaza is a good thing. But if a person “changing their mind” is in power, and they do not subsequently use that power in accordance with the seriousness of the new conclusion they have arrived at, then that’s a problem.

Most disappointing is the feeling of “again… of course”

We are conditioned accept that these routine feelings of humiliation, denigration, objectification, and violation women (especially young women!) experience in their sex lives are blameless, and if they can’t handle it they should just abstain

This is wild to see. #HamOnt could choose to be remarkable: there is so much to offer in this city, including - if the city chose a bold embrace of cycling infrastructure - a short cycle to waterfalls, trails, epic gardens, artsy downtown streets, a university and college, a lake, and more!

Imagine … taking a train from Brantford to Goderich … or from Glencoe to Strathroy … or from Palmerston to Elora … or, well, to just about anywhere (our rail network in 1901).

Why does news like this matter? Because it is a reminder that we have a very imprecise idea how exposed to toxic stuff the people living near fossil fuels actually are. So when companies propose new projects "within acceptable limits", we should be super skeptical.

I love to see @cityofhamilton.bsky.social by-law and licencing blocking the bicycle lane. Makes sense since they have to get a feel for what it feels like before they can fine others $200 for doing the same.

Issues like the economy, housing, the environment, and the cost of living are all tied to how we elect our leaders.

A more representative democracy is how we start fixing what's broken.
