Shori's not new to seeing magic, but he hasn't really experienced it on this level, or in a way where he'd be in danger yet

Shori taking Conrad's hand to help him off the ground after this first battle, where he watches Conrad sacrifice himself to protect Yuri. First step towards acceptance and respect. Conrad understands how important this gesture is.

And yes I ship them, although it's very complicated, and the fic I've been writing in my head for ~3 years is just.....way too long to actually deal with. They have a total of 5 fics on AO3, so, y'know. One less than when I kicked off a fresh wave of Xanatowen I guess

"Our worlds are so different, yet the stars look the same." Look, Shori rejects this sentimental drivel right away, but I love how Conrad's first instinct is to wax poetic about the connections between their worlds.

Shori was the character who surprised me the most when I first watched #KyoKaraMaoh - he's the main character's overprotective older brother, so you'd think he'd be annoying or a foil. But he's intelligent and thoughtful and really does try to understand the perspective of those who took Yuri away.

Narrative: they're best friends! They know literally everything about each other! They're each other's platonic/romantic/who knows soulmates who will always be there for each other!

Actual scenes on camera: so we know nothing about each other, and the things we keep finding out are unpleasant

Cute relationship markers so far:
- Dawson reads Joey's journal then gets really mad at her when she gets upset about the privacy violation. They make up and make out.
- Dawson makes fun of Joey's passion for art, which is connected to her dead mother. He gets upset with How Unreasonable Women Are

I know of it via general "everyone watched this" trickle down, but my lord nothing prepared me for how deeply unlikable Dawson is. And how painful it looks for both of them whenever they kiss

the only thing more uncomfortable so far is Joey singing Les Mis at a talent contest and us apparently being supposed to think that was good??? ??? ???? ???

Yeah yeah I know I'm like 80 years late to Dawson's Creek, but my lord did they not do a romantic chemistry read during casting, because Dawson/Joey is the most awkwardly unromantic pairing I've seen in a while. They barely even feel like friends
