Also we don't know yet how many years of taxes the city portion $6300 would be spread over. The city isn't that far along yet in the process. They only gave us a general breakdown of costs totalling $6300. They just began surveying.

I won't know how much I'll walk away with until I get an actual offer. That will determine whether I get into a townhome, condo or go up north for a mobile home option. Lot rent for mobile homes down here is too expensive. Not worth it.

And yes we got general estimates, general only because we don't know what a new owner will want to do. Add another bathroom? Laundry upstairs? Or just plain hook up as required? Ballpark estimate is an additional $10,000 to $15,000.

The 6300 is the city portion for the hookup. That does not include getting the pipes from the house to the road. That process involves an excavator for digging a path for the lines which may involve tree removal and dewatering. There's also the plumber part for hookup.

Just got done talking to Patti and we're dropping my selling price by $10,000 since most of the comments have been "a bit overpriced." If their realtors did their homework, it's actually priced lower than the county records. But, the market has shifted.

Nope. City code requires it. That's why I'm so wound up over this. I'm expecting to have to do a big price drop to get out before 2027.

About $6300 is the city cost which can be absorbed in real estate taxes. Who can pay the rest? I have a new septic system, I sure don't. If I'm still here, I could use that money for a roof someday or another improvement. So far no one wants to negotiate it as part of the sale.

Yes it is slow right now. But I got other issues that will affect the sale no matter what. The road is being improved next year- paving and water/sewer are coming down. The city is paying for all that. However, we are being forced to hook up to water/sewer, which could cost up to $15,000.

I won't miss the raccoons. 😃 but need to get my place sold first. I'm getting some showings, but folks aren't interested or they're turned off by the upcoming road improvement. A bit much of a story for here.

I'm glad you got it checked out! I was going to say something earlier, then I got a phone call. I don't trust stray cat bites. Callie bites me and draws blood, but she's vaccd, and never got infected. I did have a stray cat bite me and I marched right to Urgent Care.

It's not so much the work, the short story- my diabetes got really bad this summer, it's under control now with insulin and Ozempic and I'm starting to feel better. But started thinking I shouldn't be so isolated where I am. My docs and support system are up in the metro.

Good to hear you got the water softener working! FYI, I'm giving up, I'm selling my house and moving back into a townhome in the south metro. Too longish of a story to tell here. My house is going on the market next week.

You can check out audio books from libraries. You will have to search around on their websites for checking out books, etc. Or am I thinking of ebooks? But why wouldn't they have audio books?

I get it you have more important things to pay for first. I'm just wishing you could get one. Lots of rain last night and thunder until about midnight. Power stayed on. Sounds like more storms tonight. About 6" of rain from the last 3 systems that have come thru. It's been a stormy summer!

Plus older houses lacking good insulation are harder to cool and heat. I hope you can get one of those mini splits someday. I think that would help?
