I adore practical effects. And I love when modern movies still use it. It shows that not everything has to be CGI to be magical.

This sort of genre cinema and practical effects I grew up with in the 1980s and 90s was something tremendously special.

The handcrafted nature of creature makeup and puppetry lent a surreal authenticity to everything.

I will always love it.
