Here are the final pictures of completion showing off the different angles and side closures for the jacket.

I ended up finding a lovely matching rib knit from Joann’s use for the gloves and leggings. It’s super stretch and comfy. The mittens use snaps to keep in place at the jacket sleeves so you can use phones while wearing it without having to fully take them off.

The extra underlayer should help with some additional modesty.

Here is the almost completed image with the parts all attached. The hood was drafted via image references from other hood like shapes from the internet. You can also see the cotton lining that was used for hood lining and partial bodice lining as well.

From there we went with the same motif for sleeves, a mix of heat and bond and stuffed fur to give it a bit more body.

So we patterned the bodice out using a boxy t shirt. And decided to allow for an easy fit -aka avoiding closures by having it be tied open on the sides.

Being a cosplay made to be worn in the summer heat of Georgia and at Dragoncon. It was super important to use breathable materials. Here were some swatch options I found from fabricstore. We ended up choosing the shade wisteria which was perfect for the northern water tribe origins.

I’m setting ManekiMiku up here so I can reference my own build summaries. I don’t currently have the brain cells to get into wearing my cosplays currently but I didn’t want them sitting in the closet.

Sanding: "I start with very rough 60 grit to remove any particularly sharp sections before moving to 150 grit on the whole print. Sand against the grain of the PLA. Steadily use finer grits (180, 200, 220, 320) until the print is smooth overall. Once I hit 220 grit, I switch from dry sanding to wet sanding for a smoother finish. Be EXTREMELY careful if using a dremel or belt sander; if the speed is too fast, it can melt the PLA. Wear a mask when sanding! You don’t want that dust in your lungs." The text is accompanied by a picture of Anakin Skywalker form "Attack of the Clones" telling Padme "I don't like sand."

Prime: "To fill and prime my prints, I use Rustoleum 2-in-1 Sandable Automotive Filler Primer. Once I finish sanding and let the print dry, I spray it with about 2 thin coats of the filler primer. Wait a few minutes in between coats. Wait 12-24 hours, then do another round of wet sanding with a high grit sandpaper (I use 400). Let the print dry, and add another thin coat of primer. Repeat the prime + sand process until you’re satisfied with the finish. Be sure to wear PPE when spraying!" The image features a belt buckle with the word "DIO" across it covered in primer.

Paint: "There are a lot of ways to paint 3D prints depending on the effect you want to achieve; in general, I recommend spray paint or airbrush and then acrylics for the detail work. If you want a metallic finish, do a glossy black coat first before the metallic for maximum shininess. For non-metallics, I use a matte or flat black coat first." The pictures show the hilt of Albedo's Cinnabar Spindle sword from Genshin Impact and an articulated skeleton hand painted gold.

Misc. Tips: "If you have a 3D printer and are making something with a flat top surface, try ironing your print; it makes it a lot smoother and cuts down on sanding time. Here are my ironing settings for Bambu’s Basic PLA on a Bambu P1P printer: Type is top surfaces Rectilinear pattern 65mm/s 22% .15mm Top surface line width at .3 Monotonic top surface pattern Instead of using sheets of sandpaper, I like to use sanding blocks. I find that it puts less strain on my hands and wrists."
