AI-upgraded Notepad now exposes Windows users to critical exploit A critical remote code execution vulnerability found in the AI-upgraded Windows 11 Notepad has fueled renewed criticism of Microsoft's forced AI feature creep.

The AI features added to Notepad created a critical exploit vulnerable to loading a compromised txt file.

The fix is part of Patch Tuesday, so update your systems.

AI is not a feature I ever desired in Notepad. I should look into some alternatives...

@Nick_Davidov Asked Claude Cowork organize my wife's desktop, it stated doing it, asked for a permission to delete temp office files, I granted it, and then it goes "ooops" Turns out it tried renaming and accidentally deleted a folder with all of the photos my wife made on her camera for the last 15 years. All photos of kids, their illustrations, friends' weddings, travel, everything. It's not in trash, it was done via terminal It's not in iCloud, it already synced the new file structure. She didn't have Time Machine. Disc recovery tools can't see anything. I called Apple and they pointed me to a feature in iCloud allowing to retrieve files that were saved before but are no longer on iCloud Drive (they keep them for 30 days). I'm now watching it load tens of thousands of files. I nearly had a heart attack.

Your studio gets acquired for over $60 billion dollars. You are then laid off. You endure executive pressure that forces you into making games your studio isn't good at making. It doesn't go well. You are then laid off. Someone decides your portfolio needs to be aligned/reorganised/restructured to become more flexible/agile/versatile under economic/industry conditions. Meanwhile, your CEO might've spent $2 million on vintage cars. You are then laid off.
