I have actually used inspectors to look at both pngs to try and figure out what the fuck, and the only difference I can see is that the blender png includes an eXIf chunk..
according to three.js specs it should support png with straight alpha, so buh??!!

Exporting png from anywhere: creates a gray outline in three.js, feels like it expects premultiplied
Exporting png by first loading a psd with transparency into blender and then exporting that as gltf and using the resulting png: perfect transparency

These are the clues I have. Now, how to solve

Just to differentiate this from my previous post because I realize they are identical: The previous post was the art prototyping and this is the actual implementation where it stores things on the server and such! This is just me going "look what I typed out (but I will only show you the result)"

ja jeg har jo jobba med รฅ lage dataspill i 20 รฅr og jeg har aldri sett pรฅ vertex color som noe som skal "multiply som default" det er poenget mitt. jeg er rett og slett ikke enig i alle khronos' beslutninger for gltf selv om jeg elsker formatet, og det er ikke fรธrste gang

tinting is hard work (not really, I'm just recovering from being sick and my brain is a big slug) but somebodys gotta do it and also from a gameplay pov it's kinda important that the color on the swatch actually matches what shows up on screen

og det er forstรฅelig det altsรฅ, jeg er bare uenig med beslutningen om at vertex color skal ganges over baseteksturen som default. sรฅ siden jeg skriver min egen implementasjon bare gjรธr jeg hvafaen jeg vil i stedet :D

Ser noen postet en video under, men her er en liten skisse uansett. vertex colors lar en gi fargedata til en 3d-modell per vertex (punkt) og det er superpraktisk for en hel masse effekter man kan gjรธre (f.eks legge pรฅ mรธkk eller snรธ pรฅ en 3d-modell uten รฅ mรฅtte modifisere teksturen)

fully compliant gltfs will expect vertex color as a color multiplier. This gave me the ick like if your boyfriend farts in your face ๐Ÿ™ƒ anyway I will proceed to ignore this, like it DESERVES
