X-Twitter user. After spending the last 17 months helping my partner thru brain cancer & grueling hospice care, then this disastrous election results. I'm looking for some peace of mind again.

Wanna know whose shutdown this is?
Pay attention to who’s enjoying it.
According to eyewitnesses, armed ICE agents dragged kids out of their beds in the middle of the night, zip tied them and put them in rented vans while raiding an * entire apartment building* on the South Side of Chicago.

Let us in. Hold ICE accountable. Tear down the fence.
This is what we are demanding from the Broadview ICE facility, and nothing less.
Our leaders can decide whether they stand with the people or with ICE. There is no middle ground.
A House committee voted Wednesday to advance a bill that would extend telehealth flexibilities in Medicare for another two years. The legislation, called the Telehealth Modernization Act of 2024, passed unanimously in the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, sending the bill to the House floor to await consideration. The bill would avert a year-end expiration of the pandemic-era flexibilities. Telehealth advocates say time is running out to extend the pandemic changes, potentially disrupting access for patients who have come to rely on virtual care.
🔥I'm hearing from people about their Telehealth either being canceled or being asked to pay out of pocket. This is absolutely CRUEL. There was a Telehealth Act of 2024 that was BIPARTISAN & Speaker Mike Johnson did NOT bring it to the floor for vote.
It would've been OUT of CR & EXTENDED for 2 yrs!
Liar liar pants on fire 🔥

Now, thanks to the shutdown, funding for Medicaid + nutrition programs is on the chopping block.

This is due to a law signed by Ronald Reagan and has nothing to do with this shutdown fight.
But consider this...
Emergency Medicaid spending in 2023 cost $3.8 billion — just 0.4% of total Medicaid spending.
Now what about the $20 billion taxpayers are giving to Argentina?
I just got a call from my rheumatologist. Because of the changes to Medicaid, which no longer reimburses telemedicine appointments, I can either pay out of pocket or drive two hours away every three months, which is not possible for me most of the year due to my work schedule.

That payment is not Medicaid funding. It is wholly separate from what Leavitt is babbling about, not in CR or OBBB.
