After beating Zelse i wondered how the gbc version played. Ended up finishing it last night. Thoroughly enjoyed Quest: Brian's Journey.

Ive had it for a long while, it's served me well. Now though theres a darker strip down the left side of the screen sadly. I think it got a bit damaged during a move.

Finally got a physical copy a couple weeks ago and hooked the n64 up today to dive in. #quest64

Game 1 of 2026 finisher Jan 8th 11:59pm. Tales of Symphonia. Great entry in thr franchise. Its narrative is easily in my top 5 of JRPGs for how it sticks to its theming so well into the end. My only real hang up is how the last two big dungeons kind of recycle the same trope.

Here is everything I finished last year. A lot shorter list than 2024 due to a lot of life changes.

2025 I finished a lot of jrpgs Id been sitting on for a while. 2026 I think Im going to continue that trend but focus on a franchise that I've only casually enjoyed. The Tales Of games. I have so many in my collection and only finished a small few. They always start well and pitter out for me.

These arguments FOR AI really feel like they stem from a place of ego. People who lack the ability to be vulnerable and produce something that isn't as grand as their image in their head is all I keep hearing.

What I wouldnt give for a real classic remake of Rift. I feel like the rift system in its release incarnation would go over much better in todays world.

And then theres some out there who argue till their throat is dry that the key to a good loc is just selling them the game in Japanese with a packaged waei jisho.

This is why I mention Wizardry. In it if your party fully dies in the dungeon you have to make a new party to go in and retrieve the bodies/gear. Then attempt to revive the dead party back in town, which works on a coinflip if they will be revived or deleted. Some more casual DRPGs dont do this tho.

Wizardry and most DRPGs I feel have a lot in common with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and extraction shooters. To the point where its interesting we dont have a fantasy game that is like STALKER or Tarkov, insofar that it simulates the minutia of the survival and also the danger of gathering the loot itself.

about 13 hours in, half way through Chapter 2. I find the writing and presentation to be a bit of a mixed bag at times. Some of the conversations can be a little hard to follow with the lack of animation.

However, the combat is really fun, and I plan to see it through to the end.

I just finished Shining Force a week ago for the first time ever. Great game when you consider what it's contemporaries were. Part way thru SF2 and the improvements are immense.

Recently got my first Saturn and it came with this controller. It some how fits my hands less than the Mega Drive controller while having the weirdest shoulder buttons. But heck it does feel cool to play with. If only playing any non turn based rpg with it didnt suck.

Just finished getting my BA in Japanese, I had really hoped I would've gotten to a point where this didn't hit as hard as it's hitting now.

Really great webcomic, constantly excited for new pages. GF recently binged all of XPBoost and Spell X Sword on my recommendation and fully agrees too.

Honestly I might not buy many games anymore like I used to but this has felt like the major problem when I go searching for indies now. Thru steam its too easy to know what the popular ones are, but I've wanted deep cuts that either you can't find on steam or haven't hit anywhere near best sellers.

I've got next to no genuine expectations aside from "Nintendo stuff". But, I'm pipe dreaming the FF9 remake, Oblivion remake, DQX / XII, and DS/Wii U VC by utilizing a Switch 1.

Monster Hunter Wilds left me needing more Monster Hunter. I've done nothing but play various MH games for the past couple weeks now. It's all I can think about. Help.

Everyone Ive talked to about Splitgate always says its a dead game, but I can load it up at any moment and still get a match.

I often wonder what the Game Critic space would look like today had TB gotten to continue his work, as it always felt like his form of informational activism in Gaming lead to genuine changes. See the rise of FOV sliders for one.

Early Youtube critics like Stephanie Sterling and Totalbiscuit gave Gamers a critical and also moral understanding of the Games Industry. Since then they probably feel like their crusade hasn't born fruit, and so they keep pushing because they see these big AAA mtx games a few times a year

Finished Shining Resonance Refrain. A game that while fun probably would've made for a better anime rather than a game. Running through the same areas over and over got tiring. But the combat music and characters pushed me through. Over all enjoyable experience.

It's been funny to me seeing that conversation coming back up after first remember seeing it back in the days of the Xbox Indie boom. You'd think if they were going to fix everything itd have happened. Seems to be an issue of discoverability for games and gamers not understanding themselves.

Finished Game of the Year 4: Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization. Been sitting on finishing this one ever since it came out. There's simply too much content at every turn, and while the combat itself is much improved over Hollow Fragment, the game itself fails to recreate the fun of it.
