being un/pleasant to work with is age-agnostic. ive met some young cats who are apathetic and jaded af. and ive met some older folks who stay enthusiastic and curious.

refactor as part of "taking safe verifiable brain-sized baby steps to code the feature" (aka tdd). or refactor outside of tdd: sprinkled in during test-first or even edit-n-pray if you must; and or as tidying before and after the feature is done ...long as you do it.
