Book: The Dawn of Everything, by David Graeber and David Wengrow

I have just finished The Dawn Of Everything and I highly recommend it if you're interested in the structure of society or how we look at history. It's a commitment (525 pages and reasonably dense) but it's eye-opening. And gives you hope for the future - there are *other* ways of doing things.

I have been telling people this is the most significant books of the last 100 years. Eye opener and mind widener. Now I have to follow you and invite you to my next fish fry.

As a professor your argument would be classified as an appeal to ignorance, albeit a clever one. The argument over the issue is very rarely about identify as male.

I guess I support the trans community through Equality California and Lyon Martin out of fear.

Resorting to an ad hominem attack is not the answer. This is the classic wedge issue, I can still support trans rights and disagree with one aspect related to sports. I can say children should not participate in the Olympics, doesn’t make me anti-children.

You are on the money here! We need to stop being baited and just say “focus on real issues” - there are bigger fights here about inequity.

Leap of logic and straw man argument - don’t think the sentiment is that they are trying to take it away, the argument is that on a physical level there is an unfair advantage. Debating this fringe issue falls right into the trap of reactionary talking points. Focus on inequity for health and jobs.

Correlation here seems solid. Ketamine is used successfully for people recovering from trauma. Thr effects on someone using recreationally or for enhancement of experience seems dangerous - in this case catastrophic for a whole society given his influence.
