Other nations have fee for service. Not the problem. The middlemen are. Most of Medicare is still fee for service and costs less than Medicare Advantage.

We have a complex for-profit system. Insurers take a hefty amount for profits, advertising, CEO salaries, and admin costs—all those authorizations, denials and referrals cost money. Many costs are passed on to patients resulting in medical debt.
