Thrilled to announce the 4th successful PhD dissertation defense from the #MusahLab! Dr. Yasmin Roye’s work advanced patient-specific disease modeling, uncovered mechanisms of diabetic podocytopathies and revealed new therapeutic avenues. Congratulations on a remarkable scientific growth, Dr. Roye!πŸŽ‰

So excited to grow Sweet William for the first time. This beauty bloomed in my amateur garden, all thanks to catching the gardening bug from an amazing faculty colleague and friend!😊

Receiving grant and program cancellation notices from federal & private agencies without clear justification is disheartening, but seeing talented trainees lose job and fellowship opportunitiesβ€”and their confidence in the systemβ€”is devastating. This is not how science and society should be.

One of the most surprising lessons for me during my 30 years of doing science is how it's essentially impossible predict what major scientific breakthroughs will emerge or where they will emerge from. But the way we fund science is mostly based on the assumption that we can make such predictions.
