The week local politics got β€˜dirty’ Personal attacks, legal threats and counter claims light the fuse on Wellington’s election campaign.

Another mayoral candidate, Graham Bloxham, has also published malicious and untrue rumours about me. These men do not belong on council. We must protect the integrity of our democracy and make others aware of their behaviour. Our city is better than this. #nzpols

Kāinga Ora halts hundreds of housing developments, sells vacant land The projects would have included 3500 homes, as the state housing provider also sells a fifth of its vacant land.

These Ministers aren’t fixing the housing crisis they’re cashing it in.

Selling off state land while our people sleep in cars isn’t policy. It’s a political hit job on vulnerable whānau.

You don’t build homes by gutting the agency that builds them.

Not far up the road, a rare example of what we have lost. Kahikatea-pukatea swamp forest is critically endangered, with only 1% remaining.

We can't plant this, but we can create the conditions for these forests to eventually grow themselves back into existence.

The right is so used to using 'performative' as a pejorative for anything progressive, that they think it's some kind of diss to call a literal performance by performers on a literal stage at an awards ceremony honouring performances, 'performative'

is this the real life

I'm going to rate this one: Pretty Fiscal Holey.

It's a readily quantifiable cost that directly follows as the consequence of a new policy. It's not a risk! Tbf it's not technically *missing* from the budget document, but it is not "budgeted for".

PM: 'When we see it we call it out': Luxon on bureaucrats not meeting expecations Christopher Luxon: PM live in studio with Mike Hosking

Luxon proudly states that he and his government are calling out and clamping down on the Māorification of the country.

Is there no point at which they will think that enough harm has been done to Māori-Crown relations and it's time to stop pouring fuel on the fire? #nzpol

Line outside Cuba St restaurant

Cuba St is packed with lines out the door of some restaurants. People want to be here because of its vibe, parklets and diversity. Courtenay Place can be the same but ONLY with the GM project proceeding. As it stands it will continue withering away. #nzpol

Unethical for Wellington council to sign more Golden Mile contracts, Andrew Little says Wellington mayor says project has been given the green-light, and it appears Little did not understand council process.

Delaying the Golden Mile will only drive more people away from Wellington because our central city desperately needs investment just to keep up with our international peers. We have voted for the GM multiple times across multiple councils, now it's time to build it www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

Journalist: "Would you be doing this now if it wasn't that you needed more money in the government's coffers?"

Luxon: "Well as I said on Tuesday that's not the primary reason"

So it is a reason.

Once-bustling Newmarket businesses closing over high rent, state of economy Retail owners and workers tell RNZ how Auckland's Newmarket is really doing.

Shops are empty and no 'killer cycleways' to be found...

Turns out retail performance is impacted by other factors.

What places like Newmarket need are people friendly streets that we want to go to, connected by space efficient ways of travelling!

Today we mark ANZAC Day.

We pay our respects to all those who have endured the horrors of war - and the many who still do today.

We remind ourselves of the need to stop wars and prevent them from happening again.

We recommit to strive for peace.

Lest we forget.

It is truly wild to me that the same people who tell Māori to get over their land being stolen 100 years ago, are the same people who preach that Israelis have a right to Palestinian land because of what they think happened 2000 years ago.
