๐ฟ SHUDDER Film 16 of 31: MYSTERY MOVIEโ
Our next episode drops on Wednesday, and it's one of my (thus far undiscussed) Shudder movies! Can you guess which one?
Happy Halloween, scream things!
P.S. - Clown in Cornfield, Snakes on a Plane... What movie could finish this syntactic trilogy?

As they say in the UK, "It does what it says on the tin."
It's a clown. In a cornfield. If that appeals to you, you're going to get exactly what you expect, and you'll probably have fun doing so. It won't blow anyone away, but it has a fun vibe.
๐ฟ SHUDDER Film 14 of 31: Grafted ๐ซฅ
This is a solid horror film from New Zealand. Super grotesque body horror and a lead who is giving her all. And that intro! Might not get some of these images out of my head.
This is also the first time I've looked up a Sound Designer. Bruce Langley - kudos.
Thanks for listening friend! She truly is a spooky treasure. I (Sarah ๐) credit her for helping me come out of my shell and feel safe and empowered when I was about 30. She gave me a new lease on life. Youโre right too about her comedic chops!

28.10.2025 12:56 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I really like the end quote: โAll horror movies in one way or another are about deathโitโs the thing we fear most in life, and we use religion to try and make sense of what happens when we die so we can feel safe. But when we delve too deep into the subject, sometimes weโre left feeling less safe.โโ

28.10.2025 04:30 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Seriously! I completely believe they were doing it there (and during that LDS weekend) to make a statement about how dangerous that longstanding practice actually is ๐ค
27.10.2025 23:14 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Last year A24 posted these marketing images for Heretic at the SLC airport ahead of the busy LDS General Conference. With all the discussion in the movie about blindly believing marketing, it seems appropriate?

We invited @finalgirlspodcast.bsky.social on the show to complete a draft themed around 2020s horror films. We are releasing the episode next Wednesday, but we are looking to our followers to tell us who won the draft! Do you think its Person A, B or C?!

Thank you!!! Itโs been a journey to overcome the conditioning and unlearn things, as cliche as that sounds ๐๐ค

AKA Anything for Lila. (jk)
This one was easily my least favorite out of all of them so far. It's not a bad movie, it's just unpleasant in... not a fun spooky way.
Always good to see Judy Reyes though.
Not necessarily! I definitely intend to see Good Boy. And I still haven't seen Autopsy of Jane Doe, so I'll add that too!

You know what, it's not a unique premise, but it's really well-done and super creepy. A few moments genuinely shocked me, and others were genuinely heartfelt.
Casting Death (Julian Richings) from Supernatural as the grandfather was a brilliant choice.
๐ฟ SHUDDER Film 11 of 31: You'll Never Find Me ๐ป
Yet another entry for one of my fav genres, "people having tense conversations in a single location during a storm" - absolutely loved it.
More along these lines: Heretic, Barbarian (somewhat), The Apology... Please recommend others!
I get that too. Iโve been majorly harmed by high control religion (evangelical Christianity) and itโs so hard to see young women indoctrinated to it. Part of the horror to me too is that there are times you totally agree with him but heโs such a monster!
