Hyvää säätiöpäivää! ✨
Säätiöt ja rahastot tukevat merkittävästi Turun yliopiston toimintaa – viime vuonna yli 24 miljoonalla eurolla.
Lämmin kiitos säätiöille tuestanne! Sen avulla me yliopistossa voimme rakentaa kestävää tulevaisuutta meille kaikille! 💜

Feeling exhausted about work, life and the world in general. As an antidote I'm going through some of my research photographs & thought I'd share this #18thCentury beauty with you, enjoy the #embroidery and the worn out but wonderful #silk fabric ❤️👗🪡

10.09.2025 12:50 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The whole thread is full of #wallpaper gorgeousness, but I love the bottom left and right combo of small florals and geometric shapes! Really wish I could paper a feature wall in my office with one <3 #Vintage #DreamHouse
26.08.2025 09:20 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I always appreciate a good 16th century #map and lovely reading rooms! The Carta Marina by Olaus Magnus is rather a regional favourite here, being the earliest (somewhat) detailed map of #Finland with fab sea monsters included 😁 These wee beasties are just off the coast of Norway!

20.08.2025 10:25 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Lovely! ❤️👗 also a perfect example of a #museumissue: the mannequin is too tall! Torso is too long & the dress sits SO differently compared to the 50s photo so you get a totally different idea of how the dress should look. So common & can give the wrong impression about #Vintage and #HistoricalDress

28.06.2025 15:05 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Fantastiskt! Here's a pretty aerial image of the park for you. The outline of the #18thCentury manor house is also still visible in the park. The second photo is Rosavilla, the only surviving building from Tersmeden's time. Moved to a new location in the 80s, it's now the restaurant of a golf club!
28.06.2025 15:00 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Fascinatingly, von Troil's wife's uncle was Captain Carl Tersmeden who once owned the Alberga manor in Espoo, Finland. The original house is long gone, but it was in the area where I grew up! The #18thCentury garden has been partially restored and is now a little public park ☺️
25.06.2025 08:06 — 👍 4 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0Got to go to lovely Louhisaari Manor yesterday to help train museum guides. Gave a lecture & dressing up demonstration of Empire-era fashion (roughly 1790-1820). How wonderful it as to educate and inspire people about a topic I love so much! Wore my lovely hand-stitched white cotton dress ❤️

22.04.2025 09:09 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0We are looking at an ornate frontispiece to a book. It has a drawing of York from a distance with houses, churches and York Minster. The text explains that Thomas Gent was the printer and was 65 in 1757.
We are looking at a plan or map of York. The rivers can be clearly seen as can The Castle or Clifford’s Tower as we would know it.
Thomas Gent in 1757: Pious contemplations on the sacred Histories, Prophecies, and Mysteries of Holy Religion: Ancient and Evangelical; mostly graciously derived from the LORD, our Supreme Creator.
Us: Yay it’s another York virtual tour!
Thomas Gent:
Us: Tour! Tour! Tour!
Ugh, I feel you! Finland is determined to not let me wear my spring outfits... We had hailstones and vague attempts at snow on Sunday and it was below freezing this morning 😣

08.04.2025 13:50 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Allow me to introduce you to some more timeline cleansing gorgeousness! This beauty also dates from the #18thCentury and was very likely a #QuiltedPetticoat before it was turned into a bedspread. The details shows the fabulous embroidered border, which would've gone all the way around the hem.
