Erf. So.. my parents amp has been acting up, and suddenly stopped playing. So far I'd swapped out the amp, speakers *and* the dvd player they were using as a source.

Only to find out the disk mom had been playing has been the cause of the problems.

I fix computers good. Everthing else .. eh.

I know they get as small as 1l. Ironically for this, cheaper the better, the quality models have timers and such. The indian market models my mom has (220v) had don't, and probably with a few small changes (cooling fan?) would be perfect for this sorta thing

I'm sure one of the ones we've had was literally a 1/4 hp motor, with no thermal protections, wired via a switch to mains, powering the rotating drum :D
