#AOM2025 attendees!

We have been told each room was pre-set and must remain in its original layout throughout the conference. If anyone moves or disconnects chairs, tables, or AV equipment, this violates Fire Marshal and evacuation codes.
➑️Resets are fined €1,000 penalty per session!!

Is the planet losing one of its best ways to slow climate change? The concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere rose last year at the fastest rate on record. The spike has scientists worried that more and more carbon is coming from natural sources.

The proportion of CO2 in the atmosphere grew at a record 3.75 ppm last year -- a jump 27% bigger than the previous record increase.

The best explanation: forests and soils are so stressed by climate change they're losing the ability to absorb our emissions.

Data shows gender pension gap is growing New studies illustrate that the pension savings gap between men and women is growing and will continue to do so without positive action from employers and policymakers.

β€œWithout research and data reflecting the true realities of pay and retirement planning, we won’t be able to address the gap meaningfully and risk perpetuating gender inequality for future generations.”

Ditching of Facebook factcheckers a β€˜major step back’ for public discourse, critics say Mark Zuckerberg’s decision regarding Meta platforms condemned as β€˜a full bending of the knee’ to Donald Trump

WTF Meta?! Not sure why, but I expected more from Zuckerberg. Content moderators have become too β€˜politicised’ and people want a more β€˜personalised’ approach to content moderation? This step is playing into the hands of hate www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Yikes! I guess the first step would be to figure out how much of it seems generated, and what the uni policies are? AFAIK the Russell Group principles on Gen AI is a bit bland saying that some use is okay; but copying and pasting the whole thing would probably trigger an academic misconduct process

Yeah, I feel the same when I see people put their recycling in black bin bags (rendering the whole lot contaminated). But I also stockpile some speciality recyclables and take a 40 min bus ride to the council recycling centre - I know it's irrational to expect everyone to care this much
