4/4 I had far fewer followers on Twitter, but found it a good source of current research by following what some key thought-leaders in my field were posting. I was also surprised how many bots were following my account! So I came to a conclusion that the cost/benefit ratio had turned negative.

3/4 I also learned that I am not a great fan of short form social media; I prefer long-form, thoughtful infrequent reflections and discussions, as opposed to brief ad frequent comments.

1/4 Here is what I learned from my posting on Twitter (X):
-Most of my posts are on the topics of: Project Management in the area of Emergency Management (PM4EM), no surprise there given this is the focus of my book....

With that, I want to thank all those individuals with whom I have shared an online conversation, learned and shared some insights. My hope is that Blue Sky can be a potential social media platform for a positive and constructive group discussion. Hope to see you on Blue Sky.

Given this, I can't be a party to this behavior and contribute to any type of constructive dialogue, even if I'm only listening. In the past 9 months, I've not been active for the first reason.

If you may be wondering why, there are several reasons:
-X has become filled with disinformation/misinformation with an estimated 20% of the accounts made up of bots.
- the owner of the platform has engaged in bullying Federal employees which has put those targeted under threat.

I am signing off of X, formerly Twitter, so I figured I'd start here where I left off from there:

By the end of this weekend I plan to close my account with what was Twitter (now X; the name change part of the ironic twist).
