When open justice undermines public confidence: Scrutinising the Supreme Court
Justice is not a cloistered virtue; she must be allowed to suffer the scrutiny and respectful, even though outspoken, comments of ordinary men
Open justice is supposed to enhance public trust + confidence in the justice system - but in this case it had the opposite effect.
What does the Supreme Court need to do differently to make sure COP observers have a better experience next time?

Quote on a red block that reads: βIt seems to me, then, that this is one of the key contributions of academic philosophy in relation to public life: drawing out, reconstructing and scrutinising existing moral arguments that are already informing significant political work. This requires academic philosophers to relinquish any remaining notion that moral and political philosophy exists solely in the work we produce, and, until very recently, have almost exclusively studied.β
Quote on a red block that reads: ββ¦our morality, and thus our moral decision-making, is anchored in a shared history of human plurality and human social relations. It is this condition that makes us not just functional actors, but moral actors."
Quote on a red block that reads: "β¦while everyday political change tends to take place through incremental reforms, mobilising people often requires a radical and emancipatory vision β one committed to the idea that other worlds are possible."
How might philosophical thinking shape research, policy, and public debate?
βThe point is to change itβ: Essays on Philosophy in Public Life, explores this question by bringing together perspectives from 21 leading philosophers across the UK, US, and Europe. π§΅

Let's be clear: no one should be taking medical advice from the man who told Americans to inject bleach.
To moms worried about the Tylenol they took while pregnant: you deserve better than being RFK Jr's scapegoat.
And to the autism community: you are loved exactly as you are.

Well β¦ philosopher Hilary Putnam told me that when IQ tests were piloted women did better than men. When the results were analysed women did better on some types of question, men on others. So the mix was readjusted so that men and women came out equal, on average.
