Six months ago a creature was captured in the woods outside of Lutterworth and taken to Greenvale Laboratory.

Last night it escaped containment and began its rampage.

Lone survivor of the attack, Meredith Butler, begins her search for answers on October 27th in Episode 1 of The Greenvale Letters.

Sorry for the confusion then. I have a vague memory of you talking about books with insect politics a while back but I'm possibly conflating you talking about something else with those books.

Empire in Black and Gold and A Memory Called Empire I think. Can't remember which game you were covering but was a while back and your enthusiasm made me seek out the books.

I adore Banks and forgive the odd bad bit. As others have said that is the worst Culture book and the others are a lot more interesting.

But then I really struggled with the insect politics fantasy book and A Memory of Empire(?) you recommended so maybe we have very different tastes 🤷

Extra context - the BBC has previously been the subject *of* a trans rights protest for unethical coverage practices explicitly intended to misrepresent us and stoke right wing hatred. The Guardian’s come under fire for similar things.

wileycap What gets me about the Mastercard/Visa shit is this: You are at the grocery store. You pick up a nice, girthy zucchini. You head over to the oils and pick up a thing of olive oil. Then a packet of condoms. Satisfied with your selections, you head to the cashier. As you place the items on the conveyor, a voice shouts: "DON'T SELL THOSE! THAT'S GOING UP A BUTT!" And then for some reason, the cashier agrees. Then the guy who shouted, this fuckass guy in a suit, marches up to the counter and starts demanding that the store never sell any vegetables that could be put up a butt. He starts out pointing at the zucchinis and cucumbers and carrots, but you heard what he said: he's effectively banning every vegetable, just enforcing it selectively. You ask the cashier if he's corporate or something. The cashier says no. The manager? No. He works here at least? No. Who the fuck is he, then? Well, the cashier explains, he's the bank manager from the next street over. He's taken up a moral crusade against vegetables that might go into rectums and if they don't obey him, he won't take anyone's paychecks or any money from any store that opposes him. And his bank is the only bank in the region, so it'd be a huge hassle for the business and the employees. And somehow this dumb fucking scenario is real.

I would just like to write and talk about TTRPGs without this post being relevant.

There's a big difference between take that in something like Munchkin and your plans being utterly ruined by other players in Bus or Hansa Teutonica or Power Grid or some other highly interactive game. One is awful the other is everything I want in a game.

On reflection, Harry Potter is a remarkably easy franchise for a board gamer to boycott. There has never been a good HP themed game, not one. The highest rated one on BGG is a deck builder, and I played it and it was awful. (I rated it a 3/10 in 2019 and skipped doing a vid on it)
