Here's a fossil of a Hyphalosaurus, a small aquatic reptile from 120 million years ago (not a dinosaur; sorry). Its unusual & very rare condition made it die young.

But that it existed at all is something wondrous.

Famed NASA astronaut and Apollo 13 commander Jim Lovell has died at age 97 Lovell commanded the mission that almost ended in disaster after an explosion that threatened the crew's oxygen and electrical supply. The inspiring story of their survival was made into a hit movie.

Rest in peace, Jim Lovell. And thank you for helping to expand our knowledge beyond our world.
