Scottish Referee, 20/05/1898, confirms the keeper was Alex King.
It also seems to suggest that both sides were what could probably be called "select" sides.

Not a Celtic story, but... Alex Ferguson scored a hat-trick for Rangers 3rd team, in a 6-0 win, against GCT on 6 September 1969/

This would probably explain the extra set of shirts at Ibrox.

Turn up with two sets of jerseys & ask if the referee objects to the wearing of the (thin) hoops.

If it wasn't for the caricature I would have assumed that the Celts in the photo were wearing hoops.
The Sunday Post is the only mention (I have seen) of the change at half-time.

No, I was hoping someone else would be able to shed some light on it.
It did appear strange to have a change of shirt available for an away game. (Also strange that it wasn't a 2nd set of the same jersey.)
The only similar style strips I have seen in photos are usually worn by goalkeepers.

Another way to look at it...
If the first game doesn't stand then the "replay" should have been played on the original ground.

Maybe ask a Queen's Park historian if it's included as a match played in their records?

That NBDM report is the only one that mentions him playing.

In a further twist... the first match appears to have stood as a cup tie.

In fact he couldn't have played in the 2nd tie as he was playing for the Reserves v QP Strollers.
