I've been slowing down and doing some exercises with a friend to work on some of the things I can improve on as an artist. This portrait exercise was to focus on leaving the shadows mostly alone, and to give more information to the transitions between the shadow and the light.

Child over for a playdate with my three year old:

“You’re a kid! 🤣🤣”

Me: “sometimes 😆”

My kid while nodding very seriously: “sometimes.”

There’s definitely a level of “No…no. No..? 👀 she’s gonna ask for my help now…right?”

She’s only three and I don’t even have to have her on my lap anymore for this. This is weird.

It's nice when someone who creates great art is also a genuinely nice person. People talk about illustration being a field where people lift each other up, he's a great example.

I think the painted version of this drawing turned out okay. 👉👈This was done in watercolors, with graphite, gouache and chalk pastel finishing touches.

It's fucking gorgeous and a fun time. Everybody involved did great. Some things I missed about the book, but I think that's inevitable.

Funny thing is, I wasn’t doing anything even remotely related to Disney. 😂😂 still made sense in weird way, bc you know they’re watching 👀

It's 6 am I have my coffee the toddler could wake at any time I should probably wait for a guaranteed unbroken amount of time BUT ITS HAPPENING ITS FINALLY HAPPENING IM GONNA WATCH IT.

Playtime with 3 year old:

"Let's go swim in the scary water!"
"Ok! Where are we going?"
"Over there! There's a castle! But there's a DRAGON"
"Omg. Nice dragon?"
"No, a mean dragon!"
"Well then. /picks up a stick/ Lets goooo"
"He's in the garden!"
"I mean even dragons need hobbies..."

Not a horrible way to spend my time… ❤️
