25.07.2025 00:16 β π 6026 π 843 π¬ 111 π 57It's funny and telling that MAGA is agitated like never before but nobody can be seen protesting. The fervor is going straight into their ipads and online only.
15.07.2025 17:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The main objective is to exhaust you so that you can't even question the underlying psychological manipulations. The only way to fight back is to completely reject the authenticity of every suspicious source of information and not let anything epistemologically dubious affect your views at all.
15.06.2025 21:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0one thing to remember about circulating disinformation (like the viral fake f-35 images): it's always unclear who deployed it and for what purpose. Sometimes it presents something very unconvincing, but with hidden assumptions built in to affect your opinion even if you disbelieve the thesis
15.06.2025 21:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0& it's not to refute or handwave the problem of evil in logical context. But the problem of evil seems like looking for a particular strand of hay, rather than a needle, in a haystack. This is familiar to naturalism, but I think it's more pervasive and pessimism much truer than people tend to think
30.05.2025 04:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think the problem of evil is funny in a sort of cute and misguided way.
The real mystery, I think, is how and why anything in this world of structurally infinite massacres could be good at all.

There was a huge X-class solar flare yesterday on the Sun!
You can see it on the right-hand limb in these SDO images.
I find it so neat that we live next to, and can study, a star.
We take it for granted that it's "the Sun" and it's always in the sky, but there is a star and it is RIGHT THERE.

03.05.2025 22:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Absolutely loved this. There's a disturbing trend in the humanities that because Descartes wrote at the start of the modern area, and helped to usher it in, that thorough scholarship of his works is somehow unnecessary to understand him and his views. This Element treats him thoroughly and fairly.

men love to imagine scenarios in which they are disadvantaged (for a lack of real examples), which is why MRA guys who have never had a girlfriend get very upset about the supposed unfairness of divorce law and child support lol

Humanities education does not address the problem of being a shitty person who is willing to do evil things.

it doesn't sound too unreasonable as long as you selectively pretend the semantics don't exist. Each axiom is a powerful and interesting intuition in its own right and very likely worth the detour
