@will_cor_cor on twitter. Will Lawless in other spots. AoS, slowly and not that well. Other stuff, like trying to be a halfway decent human being, big fan of Popper's Paradox of Tolerance. #YNWA.

13.11.2025 21:08 β π 9 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0There is no centre-right, if there ever was such a thing.
All of the right are far right. They differ only in presentation and marketing.

13.11.2025 12:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I don't entirely understand what you're getting at here. Housing policy doesn't seem to be zero sum, to me. If, for instance, you're not going to cut the private sector out of housing entirely, then it seems to me that there's a spectrum of interests along which you can align policy and execution.
13.11.2025 11:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Fair enough, I wouldn't go so far as to say that Beer's quote is so robust as to work as an iron postulate, but it's pretty handy framing. If nothing else, it forces one to look for objective evidence for the stated intent for a policy proposal or process.
13.11.2025 11:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I would be amazed, AMAZED if starter homes in this context means anything else in their minds bar tiny miserable shanties in which to stack the povvos when they're not either working, commuting or consuming.

13.11.2025 11:33 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0... and incompetence. I would accuse, for eg., M Martin of a lot of things, but he isn't stupid, nor were his predecessors. Stop doling out fools pardons, they are achieving precisely what they are setting out to achieve. They simply don't care about the negative consequences borne by others (3/3)
13.11.2025 11:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Why do I say this? Because at every time, they've been told what the consequences of those policies and actions would be, for ordinary citizens, and they went ahead regardless, while those property development interests continue to prosper. We can't keep putting this down to stupidity... (2/3)
13.11.2025 11:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Let's get specific, then. I am specifically saying that the policy decisions made + actions taken by successive Irish govts in relation to housing and property development have had as their primary goal the enrichment of property developing interests, and not the housing of ordinary citizens (1/2)
13.11.2025 11:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Careful now, we wouldn't want to descend into inane and meaningless reactionaryism by simply opening our eyes and describing what's happening and has been happening for decades right in front of our faces.
13.11.2025 11:23 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I beg to differ. The βοΈhousing crisis βοΈ directly serves the interests of business and social sectors aligned to FF and FG. It works the way it does, because it works for the people and interests to whom the permanent parties of government are aligned. It's observably the case.

13.11.2025 10:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Once again, the government is willing to do anything to fix the housing crisis, except for anything that will actually fix the housing crisis
13.11.2025 10:37 β π 88 π 14 π¬ 5 π 0Back in March I wrote about Minister Browne's aversion to targets. Unfortunately it remains relevant today. Specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and timely targets are ESSENTIAL to any goal. A plan without these elements is just a gamble #spΓ©irgorm
